Once, when a violent wind arose from the southwest, he told his students, “A great fire is raging in the market at Chengdu.” He took a mouthful of water and sprayed it out, then told them to record the date and hour. Later, someone arriving from Shu said, “There was a great fire that day. A cloud came from the east, and soon a heavy rain fell and put it out.”
