Prevod

Long ago there lived a man called Suenao, a Minor Captain. He fell ill, and when he had recovered a little, he went to the palace. This was in the days when Kintada the Controller was serving as Assistant Director of the Palace Housekeeping Bureau and as a chamberlain. “I am still not quite recovered from my illness,” Suenao told him, “but I was anxious to come, and so I have presented myself. I cannot say what may happen hereafter, but since I have managed to come this far, I shall return about the day after tomorrow. Please convey this to His Majesty when a suitable occasion offers.” With that, he withdrew. Some three days later, a poem arrived from him: “How bitterly I regret that I promised we would meet again. If only I had said that today would be our last.” That very day he died. It was a deeply moving farewell.
