Prevod

The Rooster, the Cuckoo, and the Blackcock once bought a cow together. Since they could not divide her, and could not agree on buying one another out, they decided that whoever woke first in the morning should have the cow. The Rooster woke first.

“Now the cow is mine! Now the cow is mine!” said the Rooster. His crowing woke the Cuckoo. “Half a cow! Half a cow!” said the Cuckoo. His calling woke the Blackcock.

“My dear brothers, share what is right and fair—right and fair! Tsio! tsi!” said the Blackcock. Now can you tell me who ought to have the cow?

Hanen, Gjøgen og Aarhanen havde engang kjøbt en Ko sammen.

Da det ikke gik an at dele den, og de ikke kunde forliges

om at løse hverandre ud, bleve de enige om, at den, der vaagnede

først om Morgenen, skulde have Koen. Saa vaagnede

Hanen først.

„Nu er Koen min!

Nu er Koen min!“ sagde Hanen. Da Hanen goel, vaagnede

Gjøgen.

„Halv Ko!

Halv Ko!“ sagde Gjøgen. Da han goel, vaagnede Aarhanen.

„Kjære mine Brødre, deler,

som Ret er, og Skjel er —

Ret er og Skjel er! Tsio! tsi!“ sagde Aarhanen.

Kan du saa sige mig, hvem der burde have Koen?
