A man bought a parrot and let it roam freely about his house. Being tame, the bird hopped up onto the hearth, settled there, and began to chatter merrily. A weasel saw him and asked who he was and where he had come from. “The master has just bought me,” he replied. “Then how is it, you most impudent of creatures,” she said, “that you have only just arrived and already make so much noise? I was born in this house, yet the masters will not allow me to do any such thing. Whenever I try, they grow angry and drive me away.” The parrot answered, “My lady of the house, you had better keep your distance. My voice does not annoy the masters as yours does.” This fable applies to a faultfinder who is forever trying to find something to blame in others.
