During the Jin dynasty, Wang Zhaoping of Xincai kept an ox cart in his main hall. One night, for no apparent reason, it moved by itself into his private chamber, struck the wall, and came back out. Afterward, he repeatedly heard shouting and the sounds of an assault coming from all sides. He gathered a band of men and armed them with bows and crossbows, ready for battle. Aiming toward the sounds, they all fired at once, but the ghost caught several arrows as the bowstrings rang out, leaving them stuck upside down in the earth.
