Prevod

A thirsty ant went down to a spring to drink and began to drown. A dove perched in a nearby tree saw him, plucked a leaf from the tree, and dropped it into the spring. The ant climbed onto it and was saved. Then a birdcatcher came along, fitted his limed reeds together, and prepared to catch the dove. Seeing this, the ant bit the birdcatcher’s foot. In pain, the man dropped his reeds, allowing the dove to fly away.

The fable shows that if even creatures without reason can recognize kindness, how much more ought we to repay our benefactors? [Or: Even the small can render great services in return to those who have helped them.]
