While a lion was sleeping, a mouse ran across his mouth. The lion sprang up and turned this way and that, searching for the creature that had come near him. A fox saw him and mocked him for being a lion yet frightened of a mouse. But he replied, “It is his insolence that angers me.” The fable teaches that wise people should not dismiss even seemingly trivial matters.
