Some men were on their way to attend to a certain matter when they encountered a raven blind in one eye. They paused, and one of them advised turning back, saying that this was what the omen signified. But another spoke up: “How can this bird foretell our future when it could not even foresee the loss of its own eye and guard against it?” So too, those who lack sound judgment in their own affairs are unfit to advise their neighbors.
