A thirsty ant went down to a spring, but was swept away by the current and was drowning. A dove saw what was happening, broke off a twig from a tree, and dropped it into the spring. The ant climbed onto it and was saved. Some time later, a birdcatcher fitted his limed reeds together and approached to catch the dove. Seeing this, the ant bit the birdcatcher’s foot. In pain, he dropped the reeds, causing the dove to fly away at once.

The fable shows that we should repay those who have done us kindness.
