During the reign of Emperor Ling of Han, the mother of the Huang family of Jiangxia was bathing in a tub. When she failed to emerge for a long time, it was discovered that she had turned into a giant soft-shelled turtle. Her maid fled in alarm to tell the family, but by the time they arrived, the turtle had made its way into a deep pool. Afterward, it would appear from time to time.
