Guo En, a commoner of Licao whose courtesy name was Yibo, was one of three brothers, all of whom had lost the use of their legs. He asked Lu to divine the cause. Lu said, “The hexagram reveals your ancestral grave. In it is a woman’s ghost—if not the wife of your father’s elder brother, then the wife of his younger brother. During a famine long ago, someone must have coveted her few measures of rice and pushed her into a well. When she cried out from below, that person hurled a great stone down after her, crushing her head. Her lonely spirit, tormented by this injustice, has appealed to Heaven.”
