Beli pes v človeški podobi

Tian Yan of Beiping was mourning his mother and lived apart in a mourning hut. Late one night, he suddenly entered his wife’s chamber. Puzzled, she said to him in private, “You are in a time of bitter mourning. Surely you can refrain from indulging yourself.” Yan would not listen and lay with her. Later, when Yan briefly came into her room, he said nothing to her. She found his silence strange and reproached him for what had happened before. Yan realized that a spirit was at work. At dusk, he stayed awake, leaving his mourning clothes hanging in the hut. Before long, he saw a white dog come up to the hut and seize the clothes in its teeth. It then changed into a man, put them on, and went into the house. Yan followed close behind. Seeing the dog about to climb onto his wife’s bed, he beat it to death. His wife died of shame.
