Emperor Wu of Han transferred the sacrifices to the Southern Sacred Peak to Mount Huo in Qian County, Lujiang. There was no water on the mountain, but the temple had four cauldrons, each with a capacity of forty hu. Whenever the time for sacrifice came, they would fill with water of their own accord, providing just enough for the rites. Once the ceremony was over, they would be empty again; neither dust nor fallen leaves ever fouled them. For fifty years, four sacrifices were held each year. Later, when the number was reduced to three, one of the cauldrons broke of its own accord.
