O viru
Myths and Legends of Our Own Land is an extensive American collection of legends. In his preface, Skinner openly states that he drew his material from written accounts, histories, newspapers, magazines, and oral storytelling, reconstructing it in each case. The source is therefore not a primary transcript of any individual storyteller’s account.

These last five contain several shorter narrative examples without original titles of their own, so we have not artificially split them up.
